We are delighted that Mycenae Gardens has received a Level 4 “Thriving” award in RHS London in Bloom’s It’s Your Neighbourhood scheme, a level up from last year’s “Advancing”.

The gardens were assessed during summer 2026. The scheme’s scale runs Establishing, Improving, Advancing, Thriving and Outstanding, so Thriving is the fourth of five levels. Moving up a level in a year reflects the steady work of our volunteers and the wider community: regular volunteering days, planting, habitat improvements and the everyday care of this much-loved green space.

The assessment also helps us decide where to focus next. Work continues on the meadow, the native hedging, the wildlife areas and the parts of the gardens that receive the heaviest use.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated plants or materials, shared their knowledge, or simply encouraged the work. Every Thriving comes from mornings spent digging, planting, weeding and hauling branches about. This is a community award, and Outstanding is now the one to aim for.
